Rental terms

Last updated 23 October 2026

Who can drive

The driver must hold a valid licence for light motor vehicles. Indian and international licences are accepted.

Documents

Identity proof (voter ID, driving licence or passport) is mandatory for every self-drive rental. Car4U may cancel a booking if the documents provided aren't satisfactory. Original documents are returned on the last day of the rental.

Charges and payment

Rentals are charged by the hours and days used. There are no hidden charges and no extra charge for hill stations. Doorstep and airport delivery may carry a charge depending on distance. We accept cash, debit and credit cards, internet banking, PhonePe and Paytm.

Damage and insurance

Car4U isn't responsible for damage during the rental. The renter pays for repairs up to a fixed limit, and the insurance claim applies above that limit; any amount beyond the claim is also payable by the renter. We explain the limit before you confirm.

Return

Return the car at our office, your door, the airport, or in another city agreed in advance. We check the car with you against the handover photos.
